Our Story

Prep began as a dream between two sisters in Winnipeg in 2011 when Chelsea and Allison returned from years of travel with big ideas, a commitment to hard work, and a vision that couldn’t be found in a typical job. It started as a blow dry bar until they got their hands on their own space and recruited 6 stylists to join them in a 500 square foot storefront on Corydon Avenue. The following year they doubled in staff and square footage and have kept growing ever since.​

In 2016 they headed south to what would become their second home in Tulum, Mexico. They opened Prep Tulum in the boutique hotel zone right on the beach, a sought-after destination wedding location for brides from all over the world. Prep Tulum now serves clients across Mexico from Cabo to Cancun and everywhere in between. Their mobile glam teams are also available for weddings in Argentina and Europe. In 2019 they moved their Winnipeg location to 173 Lilac Street and now with more than 20 stylists and staff Prep Hair is one of Winnipeg’s leading salons.​
